Top three signs of exhaustion and when to ask for help

With the final days of 2017 closing in, it’s easy to drown from piles and piles of work and social obligations.

Despite being a festive season, the holiday rush often causes anxiety to people most especially to those who are struggling to juggle different tasks.

Fatigue also plays a big role in people’s health this time of the year as everyone tries to push their limits just to meet deadlines and commitments.

So how do you know if a burnout is setting in and only a heartbeat away?

Here are three tell-tale signs of exhaustion you need to watch out for.

• Your relationships are suffering

Did you overlook sending greetings for your friend’s birthday or your parents’ anniversary? Did you miss a special date night because you forgot to put it on your calendar? Or did you just suddenly blow up after your colleague asked about your upcoming presentation?

Forgetting things and being easily irritable are usually the initial signs of tiredness.

It’s ruining your connections with your family, friends, co-workers and other members of your immediate community.

• Your sleep cycle is messed up

It’s three in the morning, and you have to wake up in three hours to prepare breakfast for the kids.

You’ve been lying in bed for hours, and your body is tired but sleep just seems too elusive.

You sleep at a decent hour hoping to get eight hours of shut-eye, but you keep waking up in the middle of the night with sweaty palms and stomach cramps.

Sounds familiar?

You don’t get enough rest because your mind is racing with thoughts and you constantly worry about the next day’s schedule and to-do lists.

• Your health is going downhill

When you have a lot on your plate, it’s easy to fall into unhealthy eating habits.

Because you feel like you’re running out of time, you either skip a meal (or two!) or make bad decisions when it comes to your food.

Stress and poor diet can lead to a lot of health complications. And what could make it worse? Working sick and not listening to your body.

Your immune system is out of whack, and you become prone to all kinds of nasty bugs and infections!

Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to do everything on your list.

Learn to organize your life and to ask for help when you first see or experience the symptoms above.

Getting support is not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength for realizing your limitations and finding ways to address it.

If you’re searching for help at home or at work (or even both!), then why don’t you give us a call?

From sending out mails to doing your grocery shopping to getting your laundry to scheduling your appointments to doing all kinds of research, we would be happy to take the burden out of your hands so you can focus on what really is important this time of the year.

Instead of trying to catch your breath, you can take time to nourish your relationships and to indulge on some self-care.
